Preview: Owari no Seraph

Owari no SeraphWill Owari no Seraph take the shounen genre to new heights?

The world is one day hit by a terrible virus that kills every over 13 year old and at the mean time vampires rose up to enslave the remains of humanity. Under 13 year olds being enslaved by vicious vampires, that really sounds disturbing. The main character of the story is Hyakuya Yuuichirou who has a desire to slaughter all vampires who use humans as livestock.

Judging from the preview, the animation seems above average. Action sequences seem fluent and character designs appropriate. The action scenes feature a lot of blood, but that doesn’t seem as a surprise considering the theme.

The music in the preview video sounds pleasantly familiar. It has a lot from the epic Guilty Crown soundtrack. The music is done by Sawano Hiroyuki, who indeed delivered the soundtrack for Guilty Crown. He was also responsible for Ao no Exorcist and Kill la Kill. Concerning the soundtrack I think we’ll be in for a thrilling ride. The music already engages the viewer and enhances the action on screen.

Owari no Seraph is directed by Tokudo Daisuke. This will be his first full show as he directed several episodes on Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Shingeki no Kyojin and key animation on some of the Guilty Crown episodes. It remains to be seen how he combines his previous experience into a full fletched director roll. At least he has seen several steps of the process in making an anime.

I still have my doubts about Owari no Seraph when taking the director, the theme and the studio(Wit Studio) into account. Also the high school setting seems a bit misplaced when you envision a world hit by a deadly virus and humanity being enslaved by vampires. Time for school seems to be the least of humanity’s problems. Owari no Seraph will start airing in April 2015.

It will with the traces of shonen-ai Boys Love it has. Seen mostly in the manga series. I am sure it will attract a lot of people attracted to Boys Love all to see the Yuu and Micha moments in the anime series.

I mean its in the manga. You would have to be lying if you didn’t see it. Even so its minimal. I think the author Kagami is simply playing with his readers over it. I am not saying it is Boys Love just that there are instances where fans could utilize their imagination to take it there. Think of it like this: Black Butler, Kogami and Makishima, and or Sasuke and Naruto.

I haven’t read the manga, plus all the titles you’ve mentioned which I haven’t read or seen;p But I suppose it is like Free! where they want to apply monitization on certain niche subjects.
