Preview: Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete

ushi1A visual novel turned into an anime by Feel. Will this anime turn into something special?

Feel’s track record is mixed. It produced good shows such as Minami-ke and Outbreak Company, but also questionable shows such as Mayo Chiki and PapaKiki. It’s difficult to pinpoint or Feel will make a good mixture of story and its fanservice content.

Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete takes place in the beginning of the 21st century in the Uchihama Acadamy. A new building is being constructed and means there will be a last General Club Festival. Apparently the students are going to make this the most memorable festival ever.

The story centers around Sou Akiyama(voiced by Takuma Terashima; Kokoro Connent, Log Horizon) who is part of the Astronomy Club. One day he encounters transfer student Yui Furukawa(voice by Akane Tomonaga; Jigoku Shoujo, Megachu) and things are about to change.

So far for the synopsis. I think we can assume that Sou and Yui are going to wind up in a relationship. Baring in mind that this stems from a visual novel, Sou will likely be swarmed by girls who want Sou for themselves. You have to be a lover of the genre to be able to fully appreciate the subject matter.

What I’m most curious about; will Feel be able to replicate the visual excellence of the artwork into its animation. I highly doubt the studio will be and will probably disappointment fans of the visual novel. Yes, the two are incomparable, but the artwork gave the extra touch and when this cannot be achieved again, the magic will be lost. Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete will be airing in the Fall season in October.
